Introduction to Item Tags
Tags are for organization
Item Tags (here sometimes just called "tags") are a useful way to organize and manage the card items on a complex layout. Tags are not part of your deck's content in any way: people playing your game will not see any evidence of tags.Tags are an "Advanced Topic" because many card layouts are uncluttered and simple, and do not need any particular organization.
But some layouts are more complex, with many overlapping items and items that could usefully be treated as a single group. Multideck can also be used for larger layouts, such as game boards and player mats, where this level of complexity is more common. In these cases, it can be useful to be able to easily select related items as a group, so that you can (for example) move them all together to a different location in the layout. Tags help with that.
What is a Tag?
A tag is a name and an icon—but mostly it's just a name. You can create any number of tags, with whatever names you wish to give them. The icons aren't really important, but may help by making tags more visually distinct. You can ignore the icons if you wish.Once created, a tag can be assigned to any number of card items in your layout. Each item may have any number of assigned tags. Use the Tag List in the Layout tab to create tags, delete tags, and assign tags to items.

Selecting by Tag
Once you have created and assigned your tags, you will be able to select (and deselect) all items with any given tag, allowing you to then move all the selected items together, or batch-assign other characteristics to them.Tell me more about Selecting by Tag.
Hiding by Tag
You may also wish to hide some items in the Layout view. Hiding gets them out of the way while you work with nearby or overlapping items. Items hidden in the Layout view are not normally hidden when your cards are printed and exported. If you are developing for both printed materials and online use, you may have some items that should appear in one format but not the other. It is possible to hide items when printing but not exporting, and vice-versa.
By creating tags and assigning them to related items, you will be able to easily select all items that have a particular tag, temporarily hide them from view in the Layout tab, and automatically hide them when printing or when exporting.
