About Card Layouts

Every template has either one or two card layouts, depending on whether you've selected "Cards may have two sides" in the Deck tab. To work with a template's layouts, select the Layout tab and select the template from the templates list at the right.

The Layout tab displays six major areas (in addition to the Template List and the Effects Toolbars that are visible in all tabs):

The Layout tab, showing a new, empty layout.

You can zoom in and out in the Layout view by using the menu commands in the View menu. These are enabled only when the Layout tab is selected.

Layouts for Two-Sided Cards

Often for a prototype, your cards will only need to be printed on one side. You can sleeve them in sleeves with opaque, colored backs if you need to tell different decks apart from their backs.

But if you need two-sided cards, select the "Cards may have two sides" option for your deck in the Deck tab. This will enable editing, printing, and exporting the back sides of cards as well as the fronts. If your deck allows two-sided cards, each template will have two layouts: one for the card front, and one for the card back.

You can only edit one layout (card side) at a time. Choose which side to edit by using the "Edit: Front / Back" control at the top of the Layout Options area. The card display will change to show your selected side.
